umm, just to kill time & think a lot & relax i guess. nothing extraordinary like monks & priest say, nothing phenominal. perhaps it may help u solve issues, especially if u can tap in your dreams. it also helps control the masses by keeping them away from trouble. it could b used as a tool i guess. but b careful, for the weak, bad people can use it as a tool to easily hypnotize people! scary, always b aware, aware of people & location you r meditading @, so choose the locations wisely & b aware of your surroundings & people u r with! some audio tapes, cd’s or videos sometimes have subliminal messages & hynotizing techniques without u even noticing it. so please b careful!

First of all, not all people have benefits from meditation.
Second, there are different types of meditation, and some are more fit for a particular person than other.
Third, it’s a topic of a lifetime. Once you start it, you’d better continue.
Fourth, it’s about the awareness and insight (at least the one that I see as the most interesting to me).
Fifth, it’s about applying this awareness in daily life.
It’s about transformation through knowing yourself.

    You don’t really need it.
You can also do the transformation without meditation.
Just try to observe your feelings/emotions and let you guide by them.

When you purify the spirit (through seeing the things as they are), the rest will follow.
The path and experiences are different for everybody.
Don’t stick to that because you will have expectations.
Expectations don’t purify your mind at all.

So if you want to see things as they are, you can try meditation.
If you want to be healthier, you will have to learn things in the process, and
    it can be frustrating.
There is an interaction between mind and matter, in both directions.
But the ‘mind to matter’ interaction is the most important, I guess.
It’s just a guess, some people claim it, but I like to stay humble in my claims.

I hope that makes things clear.
If you have more specific questions, please specify.

First off, if you think something will work, then it will. But if your a skeptic, arguing for your own misery, then you get to keep it. We’ve all heard of the Placebo Effect, and yes, people have been cured of illnesses, even cancer from a simple sugar pill, but only because they believed. I personally have great trust in meditation and I’ve seen people overcome dramatic feats in their lives due to it. I’ve seen people create the circumstances in their lives too, i.e. wanted to attract money, and a day later, find a lotto ticket on floor for $500. It is said that we you pray, your talking and asking the Source for stuff. When you meditate, that’s when Source is talking to you. Its very subtle and and you hardly even realize anything, but new answers are there at your fingertips and you have no idea how they got there. I personally have cured myself from many minor illnesses such as flu and colds in a matter of 1 day ust from mediatting for 20 minutes in my bathtub. The problem lies in getting into that space when the mind is clear and no chatter within. Thats the most difficult, and once your there, keeping it calm and still. Imagine a lake with no ripples. The goal is to keep the lake ripple-free. A good way to start is to repeat the word T R A N Q U I L I T Y. I got this from Dr. Robert Schuller and its worked. Wayne Dyer has a CD set out that actually walks you through meditations. Remember though, whether you think it will work, or you think it won’t, EITHER WAY, YOUR RIGHT.

I have experienced it, so here’s my experience.

    - It has made me a calmer person.(I don’t throw tantrums anymore).
    - Has helped me improve my sleep
    - Helped me have clarity with thinking
    - made me understand spirituality from within
    - I have practiced for around 2 years on and off now and I can hear real advice. I don’t want debates around this, whether you want to believe it or not is up to you :)

So basically lots of things they say about meditation is beginning to get true with me. This has made me kinda a true believer.. so I want to stick to it and see where it goes :)

I don’t think you’ll regret doing it if you did it in earnest. :)

Meditation has many positive effects on your overall well-being. It promotes an overall feeling of joy and happiness. It also is beneficial to your physical health as well as mental. Yoga is a form of meditation and can be practiced almost anywhere. Its just good to take a few minutes a day to unwind and relax and clear your mind.

    Hello Fuji,

Oh my. That is sort of like asking what are the benefits of water.

On a physical level mediation has numerous health benefits. Psychologically meditation also has many benefits. Spiritually, meditation is an essential element to achieving awareness of Self and Enlightenment.

I have experienced all of it personally.

You can see more at this website listed below.

    Take care.

Here is an article that I wrote about the benefits and steps for beginning meditation. If you are consistent, you should sleep better and overall think much clearer, feel calm and relaxed!

    Hope this helps!
